He was also preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Lips in 1971; and by a brother, Joseph Lips in 1999. Mr. Lips was a South Bend police officer for over 20 years, then was employed by Key Bank of South Bend after retiring from the police department. Mr. Lips was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Parish, FOP Lodge South Bend, and the Volkskring Club.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards with friends. On May 3, 1947, Robert married Esther Wroblewski, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 53 years are two daughters, Anne (Tony) Miller of Tucson, and Janet (David) Ellenbogen of Greer, S.C.; three sons, Robert Lips Jr. of Arlington, James Lips of Northlake, and Tim (Cathy) Lips of Greer, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Marie Miller, Mallory Miller, Matthew Lips, Eric Ellenbogen, Alex Eilenbogen, Haley Lips and Hannah Lips; a sister, Sena Ruszkowski of Mishawaka, Ind; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Niles. 18, 2000 Carl L. Parker, 63, residing in Cicero, formerly of South Bend, passed away following an apparent heart attack on Monday, Dec. 18, in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Parker was born on May 21, 1937, in Claypool, and had lived in the Chicago area for 15 years, moving there from South Bend.

He was employed as a receiver with Dominick's Food Company in Chicago. He is survived by his two sons, Richard C. Parker of South Bend and Daniel D. Parker of Cicero; two grandsons, Justin R. Parker and Richard C.

Parker, and by a brother, Larry Anglin of. Warsaw, Ind. Mr. Parker served as a chief petty officer with the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He was past president of River Park Lions in South Bend, was coach at East Side Little League in South Bend for 10 years, and served as usher at the Notre Dame Football Stadium for 28 years.

Services for Mr. Parker will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev.

Udy Feb. 8, 1930 Dec. 17, 2000 Winifred May Udy, 70, residing on Mulberry Road, South Bend, passed away on Sunday morning, Dec. 17, in her home. Mrs.

Udy was born on Feb. 8, 1930, in Lakeville, as the daughter of the late Estle Orland and Gladys Emma (Seals) Updike, and had been a lifelong resident of this area. In 1948, in South Bend, as Winifred Updike, she married Chester Leo Kominowski, who passed away on Sept. 14, 1968. Then on Oct.

27, 1973, in South Bend, she married Raymond E. Udy, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1980. She is survived by two daughters, Janice Scott of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Clara Norris of North Liberty, three sons, Estle Kominowski of San Francisco, Fred Kominowski of New Carlisle, and Leon Kominowski of South Bend; 10 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren; by three sisters, Elberta Bergl of Lakeville, Elizabeth Davis of Culver, and Virginia Gunlock of LaPaz, Ind. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

Wukovits June 17, 1918 Dec. 18, 2000 Victor John Wukovits, 82, formerly of Indiana Avenue, Mishawaka, passed away early on Monday morning, Dec. 18, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, Ind. Vic was born on June 17, 1918, in South Bend, to Frank and Mary Wukovits, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert; a sister, Marie; brothers, Frank, William and Thomas; and by his beloved "Bets," wife of 56 years.

On March 6, 1943, in South Bend, Vic married Betty Fitzgerald, and immediately returned to serve his country aboard the USS Pensacola. Vic retired from Mishawaka High School in 1980, where he was a teacher-counselorbasketball and golf coach. Vic was a longtime basketball and football official on the high school and college level. The highlight of his career was officiating the 1973 Rose Bowl. Vic is survived by two sons, Victor (Flor) Wukovits of San Antonio, Texas, and Charles (Christine) Wukovits of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Caryn and Carol Wukovits, both of Mishawaka, and Victor (Margaret) Wukovits of Lake Charles, and by a sister, Theresa Healey of South Bend.

As per Vic's request, there will be no visitation, with ThallemerGoethals Funeral Home handling all arrangements. Memorial services will be held in conjunction with the Wukovits family reunion in July, with the date to be announced at a later time.
