Dagannoths are a slayer task assigned by the advanced Slayer masters. Requiring completion of Horror from the Deep to be assigned, Dagannoths are known for their high slayer experience rates and easy task completions. For players who are seeking a more difficult challenge, the Dagannoth Kings are a viable alternative for players of moderate to experienced combat ability.

The weaker variant of Dagannoths can be found within the Lighthouse basem*nt, Jormungand's Prison, and the Catacombs of Kourend. In the first two locations, a dwarf cannon can be used very effectively as the area is multicombat. Little food or prayer potions are required. Within the Catacombs of Kourend, players can use prayer equipment and a bonecrusher to limit or negate the need for prayer potions. While players cannot use a dwarf cannon in the Catacombs of Kourend, players can use a Dinh's Bulwark special attack in conjunction with the 50% special attack regeneration from an equipped Lightbearer ring. Using the special attack from Dinh's Bulwark will help maintain enemy aggression without needing to leave the area to reset the aggression timer for groups of enemies in the Catacombs of Kourend.

For players seeking a more rewarding experience, Dagannoth Kings are also a great way to complete the task. The benefits of a slayer helm or black mask can be used to help speed up kills, especially for those who are lower levelled and are seeking to kill all three kings. However, without the Elite Fremennik Diary, profits will be significantly slashed. Players can also, with careful setup, isolate Dagannoth Rex and use a safespot for easy kills.

Finally, players can use a Dagannoth task as an opportunity to train Prayer through use of the Expert Reanimation Arceuus spell. Casting this spell on an ensouled dagannoth head within range of the Dark Altar will summon a reanimated dagannoth, which can be killed for 936 prayer experience and 35 slayer experience.

Dagannoths frequently drop herb seeds. The use of a seed box is recommended.
