Our internship series continues with accounting major Gage Deshotel, who is interning in ' Baton Rouge office."As an intern, I utilized my knowledge of basic technical tax requirements by assisting in the preparation of individual and business tax returns. Meet Ourso interns Liberty Robson and Madelyn Madiedo, both set to graduate in May 2025—Liberty with a degree in marketing and Madelyn in accounting. This summer, they are gaining experience as internal audit interns at Nabors Industries.After joining the program last semester, Liberty and Madelyn were recruited by Nabors Industries. Their duties include learning how to test purchase orders, SOX controls, and various types of audits. Alongside their professional growth, they've had some fantastic experiences, like visiting an active oil rig and exploring Canrig Robotics (a sector of Nabors Industries).Liberty and Madelyn are grateful for the opportunities this internship has provided and for the lasting friendship they've formed.#OursoIntern #LSUIntern #LSUMeansBusiness

Two Business Tigers are interning at Sysco's Global Support Center in Houston.Finance major Abby Mancheski (left) works on the national sales finance team. "I help Sysco understand customer trends and profitability by analyzing spending patterns and helping to identify opportunities for the commercial teams to expand margins with their customer base. Sysco's senior managers have been gracious with their time to assist in the mentoring process and sharing their experiences."Emily Demps (right) is a management major with a concentration in international management and a minor in political science. She is also a Louisiana Service and Leadership Scholar through the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College. In her second summer with Sysco, Emily is completing a sustainability internship. "I am creating a donation standard operating procedure to be used across Sysco's United States broadline sites, European import warehouse, and Canada broadline sites with partnership from inventory control, food safety, and merchandising. I am also responsible for updating Sysco's supplier sustainability resources." #OursoIntern #LSUIntern #LSUMeansBusiness

Corin Martinez (BS Finance '26), Mason Brown (BS Finance '25), and María Valentina Anzola (BS International Trade and Finance '26) are spending the summer in New York City while interning at VARADERO CAPITAL, L.P., an alternative investments manager with approximately $2.8 billion AUM. As part of a comprehensive rotating program, the interns gain hands-on experience in different functional areas of the firm, such as specialty finance, investor relations, commercial real estate, non-performing loans compliance, and collateralized loan obligations. They actively contribute to the firm's performance by working on valuable projects and developing critical skills like time management, strategic thinking, and effective communication.The interns are also taking advantage of the opportunity to network with senior industry insiders. In our final National Intern Day post, we highlight Christopher Bonvillain, a finance major working as a finance/business development intern for Accord in Stockholm, Sweden. Accord is a group organizing app for households and families that turns chores into rewards. The company received a startup grant from KTH Innovation and has offices on the KTH Royal Institute of Technology campus. Christopher's responsibilities include setting pricing for the application and its subscriptions, as well as attending weekly meetings to promote and sell the app to interested companies. Christopher aspires to begin his career abroad; his dream workplace is the Lloyd's of London insurance market. Interning at Accord gives him a unique perspective and will be pivotal in making his dreams come true. LSU Department of Finance
