I think out of everything I’ve made since we started Clean eating these have been one of the recipes that’s stuck. Hard.
I can’t get enough of them and best of all they’re so easy to make.
The kids now help out with these and often get a batch on the go while I’m cooking. It’s a great simple recipe you can let the little ones join in with, let them mix the flour and yogurt and just have the vacuum ready when the flour goes poofff!

Healthy Homemade Tortillas
I’m all for eating healthy food, but I really want it to taste good too. It’s no good cooking up a recipe and then have no-one in the family actually eat it. This is what stopped me even trying to eat better for quite a few years. I was concerned that the kids would wind up not eating at all so I just ended up giving them foods I knew they would eat. And tried my hardest to ignore the ingredients list.
Having got into eating this way, I now have a whole load of recipes I know the kids love and the foods I know they’ll be happy to at least try. These 2 ingredient tortilla though, well these just get devoured every single time.
So yes, this simple soft tortilla recipe is one of my most loved family recipe. Tortillas turn out soft on the inside, golden on the outside and they taste amazing!
The best way to eat these tortillas is as makeshift Naan bread and using them to wipe up the sauciness of this Butter chicken. Just sayin’…..
Homemade Tortilla vs Store Bought
I still buy the ready made options occasionally if I can get my hands on a good quality variety, which always seem to be sold out in our local store. But even then, they do need a bit of a ‘makeover’ to satisfy my tortilla-fussy palette.
How To Pimp Up Store Bought Tortilla {So They Taste Homemade}
You can make your regular store bought Tortillas taste like they are freshly made with this little trick: wet them with a little water and fry them in a hot pan.
This steams and toasts them at the same time so you’re left with a soft, and slightly charred, perfectly made warm Tortilla.
But if you’re getting a pan dirty, you might as well make your own Homemade Tortillas from scratch. And guess what… I just so happen to know the best two ingredient Tortilla Recipe ever created.
I’ve tried loads of homemade tortilla recipes and always end up disappointed with the result.

Try using these to mop up this healthy mushroom sauce. It doesn’t get much better than this :)
How To Eat Tortillas
Not only do they taste better than any other Homemade Tortilla Recipe I have tried, but these tortillas are an extremely versatile recipe. Here are just a few ways to enjoy them:
- Homemade Wraps -stuff them with your preferred salad, meat or egg fillings.
- Homemade Tacos – Try this Fish Taco Recipe
- Naan Bread – Use as a healthy Naan Bread alongside a Homemade Butter Chicken.
- As a Side to your favorite Mexican Dish (like this Ahhhmazing Mexican Fried Rice)
- Quesadillas

Make Ahead
You can make this tortilla dough ahead of time and keep in wrapped in food wrap in the fridge.
You could even roll out each tortilla and put a piece of parchment paper between each on and keep them on a plate until they’re ready to go into your pan.
These take only a couple of minutes to cook and so you can get them ready right up until the last step.
Storing
These will harden if they’re left out in the open air for too long which is why you need to cover them whilst you’re making the rest of the batch. However, if you do have some of these left over you can do this:
- Brush a tiny bit of olive oil over them
- Cut them into nacho shaped tortilla
- Pop them in the oven for 4-5 minutes on a medium heat
- They then become a very acceptable substitute for nacho tortillas. Yum!
